Edward has a tutorial about split screening but I can't remember off the top of my head which issue of his newsletter it is. Short course, you can use either P/C or Track Motion to resize and move the image to the left or right, then do the same with the other footage. Of course, you need 2 video tracks to do it. I mark one track LEFT and one RIGHT OR TOP and BOTTOM or whatever I'm doing with the footage. Helps keep me for doing silly things if I need to make any change.
That should get you started. OOPPS before I forget, you might want to turn off HOLD ASPECT RATIO (you might need to)

Thank you for the feedback. The concern I have, however, is that when you use track/motion, the whole track is changed, not just a single clip in that track. Does that make sense?

Sure does :-)
It's called Track Motion because whatever you do affects everything on that track.
You can use keyframes to get around this buy that's another topic all on it's own.
The simplest solution is to place each clip on it's own track and apply the desired FX to it.
Vegas has virtually unlimited tracks so you can get away with doing this very easily.

i have vegas movie studio platinum 8 and i cannot figure out how to split the screen into more than 3 windows because then there are no more video tracks or video overlays. I know how to play with track motion and keyframes a bit. pip scripts cannot be imported into this version. any help would be greatly appreciated. i would love to be able to make a brady bunch type scene. thank you .
