Why so many clips when capturing video?
by Mil Bogo on Mar 28, 2008 at 12:29:56 pm

Hi,

Why are there so many clips when I am capturing with Vegas.

Is there a way to join these clips ie join .m2t clips into 1 clip?
When I capture - can I get Vegas to capture 1 whole clip from the tape instead of heaps of little ones.

kind regards,
Mil.

If scene detection is turned on, you'll get a new clip every time you stop/start the camera. With scene detection turned off, you should get one long clip.

I guess there is not way to join previously segmented clips - is there?

Kind regards,
Mil.

quick question: why do you want to? you can add them all to the timeline in one drag of the mouse, so what's the problem?

am quite curious.........

Hi Adam,

I do have a logical answer (I think).

I will be setting up Vegas with the trimmer window to give me a 'source' and 'destination' setup like traditional editing paradigms.

I simply want one (or fewer) source clips. Its a question of management. I'd rather have one entire tape as a source, rather than many little ones based on each time I started and stopped the camera.

If my thinking is not right, and there s a better way - would love to hear it.

Cheers.
