Want to upgrade my Vegas Movie Studio 4.0..... but to what!

I have the old 4.0 version and its been great for making short amateur movies of family and sports. Ive upgraded my computer to a Vist laptop and now I have downloaded the new version but there is a Platinum version out there that appears to be the exact same software and then there is the full blown Pro version. Money is not an issue since I spend hundreds of hours editing but I want to keep it simple and sofar the Movie Studio 4.0 has been sufficient but almost 10 times in cash makes me wonder if its all bang for bucks? A couple of things are on my whish list:
- frame captures, now I need to do that in movie maker
- nicer credit rolls
- split screens
- screen in screen, coaching advice in the upper left or right corner while sport clip is running
- some more video trax
I have downloaded the Pro version as well but it looks completely different! How steep is the learning curve? The timeline appears to be at the bottom and there are no traxs before I drag a media clip onto it. Any thaughts and all input here very wellcome. Any quick views on what is new in the 8 version and if the pro is worth 10 times of dollars?

if you know the lite version going to the full version is the next logical step an dhonestly from the lite version to the full the learning curve is not as steep as someone who has never used the Vegas product before.
The full version will allow you to have all that you mentioned and a whole lot more. Use the trial for a few days I think you'll like it ;-)
