Capturing VHS to Camera to Computer at same time
by Linda O'Connell on Mar 19, 2008 at 5:18:09 pm

I am trying to skip a step.
I am importing a VHS tape into my camcorder. Then I was going to firewire into Vegas into my computer.
I thought I could skip a step by simply importing from my VCR to the camera (which works fine if I do just that) and hooking up a firewire from the camera into the computer. And then import everything at once thus saving me 2 hours. It seems like it works for about one second then everything goes blank.
I don't even know if this is possible?

Any input would be helpful. I don't know if this is even a Vegas question or a computer question.

Turn off scene detection an DV Device control in Vegas Capture. That should resolve your problem, and allow you to capture VHS (or any other analog source) directly into Vegas, bypassing the transfer to DV tape.

Open Sony VidCap (Capture utility) then and uncheck enable DV scene detection.

Open the capture app. From that app, go to Options - Preferences and then go to the "Capture" tab. It's the first option listed there.
