Problem with Capture
by John Magee on Jan 27, 2008 at 5:15:21 pm

Greetings all,
Just captured tape made with a panasonic DSR- something or other, I saw a DVCAM logo on the side of it. When capture was done, I had 140 individual, 4 second clips (only 2 or 3 clips were on the tape),and they were full of white flecks and all in slo-mo. I turned off clip detection and that fixed the 4 sec clip issue, but the others remain.
Does this sound like I need to capture that tape from a DVCAM camera (which I of course don't have)rather than my little one-chipper?

This is mini-dv, standard def...

any ideas?

I found out DVCAM (sony, not panny) runs 50% faster, so that must be the problem. I'll have to have someone else capture.

Thanks for checking in.

curious, is your hard drive that you are capturing to formatted as FAT32 or NTFS. If the former, you need to format the drive to NTFS in order to get larger files.
