Hi,
I can't get Vegas 8a to recognize the Aja Xena LH in my editing machine. I've been going back and forth with Sony tech support, but I haven't gotten anywhere, so I thought I'd try here to see if anyone else had the same problem.
The symptom is that I never see "Aja Video Device" in either drop down for Preferences->Preview Device or Capture Preferences->Device.
The Aja Xena LH has been working great on this machine with Premiere Pro and the Aja Machina capture utility, so I doubt it is some sort of hardware conflict or problem.
If I install Vegas on another machine that doesn't have an Aja card, it has "Aja Video Device" as an option on both of the drop downs.
I've uninstalled all software that uses the Aja card and reinstalled Vegas. Is there some sort of trick like maybe I've got a .DLL unregistered or in the wrong place?

When I upgraded from vegas 7 to 8, i had the same issue. In fact, i still have 7 installed on my PC, and it recognizes the xena card just fine and works correctly. My current workaround is to capture with 7 and playback with 8 using the Canopus as the output device. I know i'm not getting the best visual output, but im' just an audio guy and only need "good enough" video monitoring. The important thing tho, is, that when I render for client dubs, uploads, etc, i'm using the much better captured video for the render.
i went back and forth with sony and the only suggestion they had was to make sure i had the most recent version of .NET framework, which I do. I've reinstalled drivers and .NET multiple time to no avail. Have you gotten anywhere with this issue?

thx for responding. I had this discussion on the sony vegas forums. They were helpful and finally said they had Vegas 8 running with a xena board, altho a slightly diff. one than i was using. Oh well. It doens't make sense tho, that it works with 7, which is still installed, and doesn't work with 8.
