AVCHD DVD in Vegas
by dodgy on Nov 7, 2007 at 8:31:11 pm

Hi there,

I have some HD footage from my Sony Camera. Using Vegas 8 I can create a DVD that plays in my PS3 by burning a 'Blu-Ray' disk, however when I enter the PS3 I need to browse through the disk to find the stream and play that (it detects it as a 'data disk'). This is in keeping with what Vegas says in the documentation.

Pinnacle Studio allows me to burn an AVCHD DVD which is obviously something different. My PS3 recognises that as a AVCHD DVD and plays the movie directly.

My question, can I create an AVCHD disk from Vegas that will play in my PS3 as I mention above? If so .. how?!?

Thanks,
Chris.

Not yet. I use Ulead DVD Workshop with the HD plugin for this.

Given that Sony is the major proponent of Blu-Ray, this is odd to put it mildly, and hopefully they won't lag hopelessly behind toy companies like Ulead for too long.
