I know that you are supposed to defrag bfore starting a project. But are there any defragger programs that are better than others in way of defragging, and speeding up the drives? What are the ones that you guys use, or do you just use the Windows defragger.
Thanks

I've never defragged and haven't notice any problems from not doing so.
If you really wanted to, you could copy everything from that drive to a backup drive, reformat it and copy everything back again.

I've been using Perfect Disk for years and really like it. I will even defrag the MF and page file offline. It's the best I've found so far.
If I capture a large video, I'll do some work on it but then I usually defrag over night after I've captured. My workflow dictates when I'll defrag but usually it's done sometime before rendering.
With Vegas 5 When trying to render out a project I'd get an error message. Usually I'd stop and defrag everything then and try again and it works.
