mpeg render settings
by Richiedude on Oct 25, 2007 at 2:00:13 pm

I searched around and didn't find clear answer to this.

I need to make an mpeg2 file, with audio (NOT seprate video stream + ac3 audio file)

I have read the default DVD NTSC settings aren't the best so how do I adjust the settings to give me best quality MPEG2 file, that has audio included?

Thanks.

I have no idea why you'd want to do it this as opposed to separate audio & video streams but that's your decision.

After selecting MPEG-2 as the "Save as" type, select the "DVD NTSC" template (or PAL, as the case may be).
Then click the "Custom" box and the "Video" tab.
Choose either VBR or CBR and adjust the bitratevideo settings as necessary for the length of the video.
If you're looking for a decent bitrate calculator, here's the link to the one I use.
NOTE: the link is to a zipped file.

Pick the appropriate DVD Architect preset, go to "Custom", go to the "Audio" tab, and check the box to include the audio.
