Excalibur multicam question for Ed
by Chris Young on Jul 24, 2007 at 12:43:23 pm

Hi Ed ~

Just purchased your Excalibur and am having problems trying to map keystokes for switching rather than mousing the menu bar buttons. I have used the keyboard map and mapped Ctrl+numeric #1 for cam one 'cut' plus Ctrl #2 & #3 for cams two and three and mapped the left WIN key plus 1,2 & 3 for disolves but I can't get Vegas to recognise these combos. Am I missing something or can you suggest some keystoke combos that works well. Trouble is nearly every keystoke combo I look at is already used by Vegas

Cheers

You just go into the Options - Keyboard dialog and it should work fine. Notice when you are there, though, that there are SEVERAL different "places" where keystrokes can be defined. (i.e. Trackview, TrackList, Explorer, Trimmer, Global, etc...) Perhaps you defined them in the wrong one. Maybe try Global instead of TrackList for example.

Thanks Ed. You hit the nail on the head. I didn't have the keyboard mapping set up under 'Global'n never twigged that I had set the keys up under 'Mixer'. Once I set them up under Global it was fine so here we go giving it a go. BTW Excalibur will work with XDCam HD MXF files won't it?

It doesn't care what kind of clips you have on the timeline. It should work fine.

Thanks Ed. Thought that might be the case but just hadn't tried it.
