hi, i was wondering if anyone can help me on this. I have a video that I want to place 2 images in. The video consist of 2 hearts floating down a creek. I want to overlay the images onto each of the hearts and have it move with the hearts as it floats away. Basically the images will be on top of the hearts. Can I do that in VEGAS 7.0 or do I need another program like ADOBE PREMIERE? thanks a lot.

anything premiere can vegas can do and maybe even better or at least easier ;-)
Place the images you want on top of the hearts on a track or tracks above the footage of the hearts position with either track motion or pan/crop and set a few keyframes for the movement and you should be good to go.
However, make sure the images (if a still or text type image) is a PNG with an alpha channel set so you can keep it transparent over the hearts.
