Capture Problem - Vegas 5.0 and Canon ZR400
by Stracken23 on Oct 14, 2005 at 3:10:06 pm

Greetings all. Sorry for the very basic question but I'm stumped.

First my setup:
Hewlett Packard P4 1.7GHz, 512MB Ram, 80 and 120GB HD's

When I set up Vegas 5.0 to capture from the Canon ZR 400, I get a quick blip of the video, then the screen goes blue with a message to input a tape to continue. I can still hear the audio playing but no video. Consequently the buttons are all grey'd out so I can't even capture audio, if I just wanted that. I have Vegas set up for Smart Preview and the device as Microsoft DV and VCR (Going from memory as I'm at work right now)

I have a VCR connected to the AV input on the Canon and the firewire cable connected to the computer. The Canon has been setup for AV-DV passthrough.

I think I'm doing everything right but can't keep the video flowing along with the audio. Any ideas? Thanks.

In Vidcap, go to Options - Preferences and turn OFF "Enable Device Control"
