12 hours material 2 cameras....
by leslie wand on Jun 2, 2005 at 9:38:20 am

as it say's ; i have 12 hours of footage from two camera's of a three day stockmans event (sort of australian rodeo, campdrafting, etc.,).

in the past i used to edit it on my es7, simply logging tapes (with proper jog shuttle on a dsr80), then getting the es7 to compile clips to disk. once there i sort them into bins, and off i'd go - yee ha.

what's the best methodology in v5? capture whole tape, then use trimmer and make subclips, naming them as appropriate (lot of clips!)? use capture tape and hope it gets the right takes? (tried the latter as a test and found it worked surprisingly well, but not well enough to know a cutaway shot in the same take as an action clip....

suggestions most welcome.

hi mike, hope you're reading this in warmth and comfort - bloody freezing down here...

Thanks Leslie. I am - and all I can say is "too bad, so sad :-)"
It's about 25 C. right now (76 F. for non-metrics) and sunny - finally. Until this week, spring has been quite wet & cool.

Anyway, on to your question.
I've never done a project like you're describing but I did have a couple of thoughts.
Didn't you get a copy of Veggie Toolkit?. Seems to me that it had a tool or two that would help.
The other software I came across mention of on another forum is called
StoryLoom and it looks promising. Check it out.
Good luck with your project.

Mike
