iPhone with current Sim Card?
by Trent Whittington on Jul 22, 2009 at 2:23:33 pm

Hey fellow COW,

Currently I have a blackberry and want to switch to the iPhone 3GS. However my contract doesn't finish up until march 2010. I bought my phone off ebay and I configured a plan with Optus with my sim at the time.

My question is, is it possible to buy an iPhone outright and just insert a sim card or do you need some sort of special configuration.

NOTE: I am from Australia and currently I am with Optus and wish to stay with Optus.

Probably You should jailbreak it first. But there is a bit trouble with this.

FYI
ATT (US)sim cards work in Iphones for phone service as well as their dumb phones.
ATT service plan will force you to pay for data if you put your dumb phone sim in any smart phone. They can see what phone your using. This could be true on other services in other country's.
