Email problems with 2.1

Since updating to 2.1, I've been experiencing an inability to get timely emails on my 1G. I figured it was my internet supplier, but it has persisted. Basically, when plugged in, I seem to get emails. Otherwise, not as I should. Powering down and back up results in emails arriving. Apparently, this is a widespread issue, as there are two prominent posts on Apple's site, with hundreds of people reporting the same problem. Apparently, Apple has finally acknowledged it. Theory is that the new battery life is being at the expense of regular email access... or that it's push related. It does seem that disabling push does help in my case. Your mileage may vary...

I have three... Apples's me... cox... and a third party. Both IMAP and POP are affected equally. It has nothing to do with the carrier or account. People reporting this are using virtually every option out there.
Have tried all of the above. Apple has apparently acknowledged that they are experiencing it themselves, so I believe a fix will be forthcoming.
It's very consistent. Everyone seems to find that a plugged in iPhone gets email regularly, while one on battery doesn't. I'm guessing this new "increased battery time" feature is involved. Turning off the "Push" feature has helped a lot of us, but there are others who report that it hasn't worked for them, but they seem to be mostly 3G owners.
With "push" off I get email regularly enough to be happy...

I have not had this problem..but I would suggest anyone using POP to switch to IMAP. Having everything on the server and syned to every mac, laptop and iphone is so great. And mac mail always keeps a local copy of everything (as long as you set it that way in the mail preferences) so you don't have to worry about losing anything. One of the best switches I ever made in general was using IMAP for mail..highly recommended.
