Okay, so what's the consensus of opinion of all of you fellow iPhone junkies on purchasing Applecare for your beloved microwave emitting, potentially brain tumor causing little black bundles of love?

I say get it, you have a 2 year contract with ATT why not get the apple care that covers the phone for the duration of the contract (except for physical/liquid damage of course).
There are no "technical solutions" to your "artistic problems".
Don't let technology get in the way of your creativity!

well, I have the 2 year AT&T contract with my new wonderful iPhone, and as you would expect, if something goes wrong, and my neighborhood AT&T store says that I have to address it with Apple, I guess I will show up at the shopping mall with weapons in hand, and start screaming until security and the police have to be called. And if this doesn't work, I guess I will have to shell out another $200 bucks, because I can't be without a phone, due to business.

Bob, Please don't shoot the massager.
If your phone goes down before the 2 year contract is up, you will not be able to get another one for $200 but would have to pay the full price of $499. This is standard operating procedure for all cell companies.

I purchased the contract, seems to be a good plan. I also purchased a hard shell case and anti-glare screen before I left the store too. Both work well.

Normally I do not purchase extended warranties for consumer electronic equipment. I always purchase Apple Care for my Apple products. If anything goes wrong with any product, they will fix it or replace it.
