Phone freezes for up to 30 seconds.

Phone freezes for up to 30 seconds.
by walter biscardi on Aug 4, 2008 at 1:48:40 am

So I finally got a 3G phone last week and the only issue I'm having with it is when I access my Contacts. I click on the Contacts Icon, the Contacts page comes up and then the phone just freezes for at least 10 seconds, usually 20 to 30 seconds. I can't scroll, I can't hit the Home button, I can't do anything.

It eventually un-freezes itself and I can use the Contacts to find and contact the person I'm looking for.

After I hang up, the phone will go back to the Contacts Page and again, it will freeze for about 10 seconds before I can do anything.

Is this normal or do I have a problem?

I've had mine hang a little to, never that long though. I personally think it is a bug that will probably be fixed in the next update. You could try doing a restore though.

Thanks. I'm going to check with the Apple Store next time I'm in there to see if they have any thoughts.

Contacts is just hideously slow to load. I seem to recall that the address book loaded pretty much instantaneously before. It's apparently a factor of how many contacts you have. If it takes you 30 seconds, I'm guessing you have a few thousand contacts. With about 1300, mine takes maybe 5-10 seconds to load. I hope a future update fixes it!

Less than 200.

And it posted, too!

:o)

Damn, I love this new addition to the COW. Now if Apple would just support Flash we could even serve up our library to iPhone users, as it is we will only be able to support a sub-set of the library.

Oh well.

Best regards,

AND my new website would actually work. Can't see it at all on the iPhone as it's all flash based except for our Samples page.

It's Adobe that needs to do this. The current Flash for Mobile phones is under-powered and the full Flash for computers is too big. Adobe needs to make a version of Flash for the iPhone, so that the iPhone can set a new standard for Flash mobile performance.

At first Adobe balked, now supposedly Adobe is working on it... I certainly hope so, as you're right about the benefits of Flash on the iPhone
