by Oli da Costa on Oct 28, 2009 at 1:28:30 pm

Fraktiv (based in Soho, London, UK) is looking for an freelance video editor to work as a junior/assistant editor on a 15-part TV series (15x1hr, all HD), commencing March/April 2010.

Due to production timescales, the filming and hence edit schedule will be spread over an 11 month period, so work will not be full-time but we would expect any applicant to make themselves available for the entire 11 month period as and when edits are required (a full schedule will be available in a few weeks). Individual episodes are required to be completed (digitised/edited/reviewed/VO'ed/mastered) by our studio within 5-7 days, during which any applicants would be required for 3-5 days for a variety of tasks.

Applicants must have a high level knowledge and demonstrable practical experience in the following areas:
  • Ability to edit using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 on BOTH PC and Mac platforms,
  • Ability to use video capture applications (i.e. familiarity with logging, batching, deck control, etc),
  • Ability to use current versions of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Encore, Media Encoder, Soundbooth, Audition and Illustrator (knowledge of Dreamweaver and Autodesk 3ds max would be preferred too),
  • Ability to encode and deliver review materials to clients via web technologies (video upload, FTP, etc) and DVD,
  • Ability to organise project and media assets,
  • Ability to use professional HD VTRs (ingest and export).

Applicants must also be able to:
  • Demonstrate quick, precise and creative editing abilities and the ability to employ our 'house style',
  • Demonstrate and use their production and post-production knowledge as applied to their tasks,
  • Demonstrate a good practical understanding of NLE and post-production equipment,
  • Manage multiple projects, sometimes concurrently,
  • Aid in the management of voice-over recording sessions,
  • Communicate clearly with clients and the senior editor,
  • Work to tight deadlines.

It is expected that the applicant would have a variety of both specific and generic 'studio' responsibilities, including:
  • Logging, digitising, capturing and asset management,
  • Rough cut edits (from paper edits) and graphics prep,
  • Voice-over recording sessions,
  • Mastering,
  • Organising some studio and client admin.

This is NOT a runner position, but a junior/assistant editor position on an internationally airing TV series. This is NOT a full-time position, but a long-term freelance position.
