Problems with Nucleo 2
by Tim Vaughan on Sep 7, 2007 at 11:57:17 am

Hi
For the record, I LOVE Nucleo pro, but.... I am running a G5 Quad core with 4 GB RAM, PowerPC, and AE CS3. 9 times out of 10, when I send a project to Nucleo Background render, the files do not appear in the background render queue. The icon at the top usually will read "rendering 34%", and a file will appear in the area where it should be saved. HOWEVER, this is where it stops. After a few minutes or so, the icon still reads 34%, nothing is in the render queue, and I have to quit After Effects,-- deal with the force quit issue, wait about 10 minutes for the processes to completely stop, then reopen AE and everything works fine from there on out. --Did I mention this occurs nearly every time I turn on my computer and open AE? Once I force quit AE, wait a few minutes of mind crushing stalling, reopen AE, everything from there on out works fine. But it seems quite the ritual nearly every day, and I certainly do not have the 15-20 minutes to play this game every day....
--Oh, and I cannot just delete the "unrendered" file. I have to restart the computer before I can trash it. Really a pain when you are running servers and have to restart them.....

Thanks!

Tim

Have a look at the Nucleo icon (in your menu bar) and select Window > Support Tool.

Click on the Support tab and follow the directions to create a support package. If you can, add a typical AE project file that showed this kind of problem.

Finally send the zip file it creates to support@gridironsoftware.com and we'll delve into it,

I did that, (compile a report) and haven't heard back. However, given that 60% of the time Nucleo does NOT work and ultimately crashes my computer, I have it disabled. Yes, it works great when it does work, but all too often it costs me about 20-30 minutes of downtime each time it doesn't "catch". And I gotta tell y ou, I don't have that kind of time to sit around with my fingers crossed. Not a great purchase thus far after 3 months of using it. Probably cost me about 4 times more "render time" in the long run than it has saved.
