Using Spec Render cache in BG Render or Fast Render

Hi guys,
I purchased Nucleo Pro 2.0 this week and I have a question about Spec Render that I can't find an answer to in the documentation.
If I have spec render set for a composition and it starts rendering out some render intensive frames at the beginning of the sequence does BG render or Fast Render use these cached frames if I send the sequence to the render once I've finished working on it or does it have to start from scratch? Some of my comps are going to take an hour to render and it would be great if I can render the first half whilst working on the second half but then send it to the background render to finish off while I work on another project/comp. If BG Render or Fast Render starts from scratch then I don't see much point in using Spec Render on these comps.

Unfortunately in this release - it must start from scratch. We have heard from many that this would be a good addition - but not in NP2.
That said - spec render does create a cache that you could use - if you check out the cache manager - find your project file then to the comp you spec render'd - you can see all the cache files (and use them for something else) by showing "reveal in finder / explorer".
I would also recommend precomp-proxying or commit to disk. This will turn your layers into footage that does not need to be re-rendered when you render out.

Thanks for the reply. I think it would be a great addition in the next version, otherwise Spec Render doesn't seem that useful. It would be good if you could kind cue up other comps for spec rendering while you work on other comps/projects. Like the background render cue but with the intelligence of the Spec Render so that it only re-renders the appropriate sections if you make changes.
So other than going to the cached files is the only way of seeing the spec render just to let it finish?
I'm going to be using the Pre-Comp Proxy a lot I think.
