Timecode with Audio file
by Matt Larson on Oct 21, 2009 at 5:05:53 pm

I'm hoping there is a way to do this in episode, but I'm doubting it: Can I embed Timecode from a Quuicktime movie (with an actual Timecode track) into an audio only file?

I need to create an audio-only file for transcription, and I need to be able to match it back to the original tape. I know Quicktime Movies can display the timecode instead of seconds or frames, but is there a similar way for mp3 or wav, or aif?

Any ideas, or different workflows would be welcome, thanks!

Can you deliver an audio only QT file with MP3 or AAC compression? That obviously supports the TC.

The other formats you listed do not. Small exception is WAV if you were to create a BWAV (Broadcast WAV) but I'm not certain Episode is going to make a compliant BWAV file plus you'd need to view it in FCP or Avid to see the TC anyways.
