Image break up when encoding to WMV9

Hello
Well, not to sure what to do with this or were to begin to trouble shoot. Basically, I’m encoding to WMV9 from a QuickTime ProRes 422 source file and what happens, at what seems to be completely random places, is the image breaks up for few frames and then goes back to how it should be.
I have tried some basic tests at different setting but can’t seem to pin anything down.
I have been getting this with many of my WMV encodes, both SD and HD material. Could it be related to my source file format?
Hope the above makes sense. Any advice would be very helpful.
Sincerely
Daniel
PS: Some encoding information below:

You could post here for us to help. Robert and I have a fairly thorough knowledge and might even be able to knock on a few Telestream doors to get details as needed.

Hello
To contradict myself – for all I know it probably is the source material…?
It first started with some DVCPRO footage:
FCP sequence settings and render = DVCPRO HD 1080i50, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions. The source was 108050i HDV footage captured via SDI-HD.
Started to get it with XDCAM footage too. And also with the same footage rendered to Prorez via compressor.
XDCAM EX 720p25 (35 Mb/s VBR), 1280 x 720 (1248 x 702), Millions
Apple ProRes 422, 1280 x 720, Millions.
The source material for this was a mixture of XD HD 1080 50i and EXCAM 108050i dropped in to a 720 25p timeline.
I also get it with some PAL and NTSC SD ProRez footage captured from digibeta vi SDI and or ripped from a DVD with Mpeg Stream Clip.
Here is a link to some screen shots of my WMV encoding settings.

Hi All
I've had similar encoding issues with 5.01 when making WMV files from a variety of QT codecs. Areas of the picture break up for a few frames or longer and then it settles down again. It seems fairly random and encoding with different settings makes a difference but there is no 'optimal setting' that works every time. Consequently I really have to check every encode all the way through before I let it out the door - very tedious!
A proper fix for WMV encoding is urgently needed as most of my (and I'm sure many others) clients use WMV more than anything else.
I don't think it's related to an individual system or codec or setting but a more systemic issue with QT to WMV encoding.

HELLO!
Umm...excuse the over excitement. Its just kinda nice to know that I’m not the only one experiencing this. Unfortunately Telestream support couldn’t offer any help.
So yes, it seems that for encoding WMV I also have to encode – then double check and then re-encode in the hope that error doesn’t come up again…
Hmmmm…Very odd that its so random and doesn’t seem to be affecting that many people.

I've seen this issue too. I've found that playing with settings I can often get rid of it but it shouldn't be that hard. I'd like to look at this too. This way I can present in a nice "package" to the folks at Telestream to analyze.

Would people be willing to post or email me screengrabs of the examples of pixelation?
I'd also like to look at the settings. I'll make sure Telestream has a look at this.
What I'd need is:
Scrrengrab example
description of source file
description of settings in detail

[Andy Taplin]"it's not an exact science reproducing the errors!" In fact that's what makes this issue so inscrutable. I've seen long form clips which are fine for 30 minutes and then a blast of pixels in a scene which is no different than the previous good 30 minutes. Even that little tidbit means we're probably talking about the same issue.

Hi Craig
I posted a while ago but go no response and I'm still having this picture break up issue. I though 5.1.1 fixed it but it's still happening now and then so I have to scrutinize every WMV carefully before passing on to clients which is a real pain!
I've got some examples, can I FTP the WMVs to you along with the settings files and a description of the source?
