the other possibility is that your avi is using a video codec pillusion doesn't understand.
What kind of AVI are you trying to import. If DV-AVI, try something else. Just as a test, try a short uncompressed AVI, or a an AVI with Cinepack or some other compression codec.

thanks for you support!! for import video i must have uncompressed files.but it's strange because when i have this problem (yesterday.sorry for my bad english...)i'm already test uncompressed files (save with after effects) and today i test with uncompressed video (save with vegas) and it's ok.but i don't understand why there's a problem with uncompressed files save with after effects but no with uncompressed files save with vegas.
can i have do something for can import avi dv files?

Don't use uncompressed. Not only does particleIllusion have problems with it under some unknown conditions for some people (like you've seen), but it's a waste of HD space.
Use a lossless codec like huffyuv or Lagarith. They result in perfect ("lossless") image quality (identical to uncompressed) but result in much smaller file sizes, use less bandwidth when transferring (during playback for instance), and most importantly: always work in particleIllusion.
And for those of you who say "I don't want to use *any* compression on my video because I want the best quality" -- "lossless" compression *is* the best quality. Have you ever zipped a data file? That's lossless compression -- the file after zipping and unzipping is exactly the same as the original file.
