Question regarding a FireWireVR
by Michael Nichols on Jun 20, 2008 at 3:02:46 pm

I have a 500BG firewireVR. I am not too experienced with hardware raided devices. Can I take the 2 250gb drives out of the sleds and pop in 2 750GB drives and turn my 500BG VR into a 1.5TB VR? I want to duplicate the contents of my SVR2 1.5TB onto the VR for redundant redundancy!

The short answer is yes, perhaps you even noticed the archival box that come with the FirewireVR. You can store your old drives in there, the fit perfectly sled and all. Then you can purchase the 750s in the sleds already from you CalDigit dealer. They will slide right in and your good to go. Then if you ever need to get you your old drives you can slide out the new ones and put the old ones back in. Just keep them in the same dive slot and you're good to go.
