Can't Write or Alter HD Element
by Jack Tinsley on Oct 20, 2009 at 1:37:16 pm

This morning I started by Mac Pro OS 10.6.1 after fully mounted a warning screen show up that said that Mac could not repair HD Element for me to back up all my files and do not alter files on drive and re-format.

WHAT? Can't repair and I need to re-format. What is going on?

HELP

Jack,

I've never heard of a warring message like that before. Where did you receive that message, was it through the OS or RAID Shield? Perhaps this is something new in Snow Leopard.

I suggest you give our tech support a call, so they can check some things with your setup over the phone. I wish I could be of more assistance, but I've never need that warring before.

Can I use RaidShield and under advance use the "Health Center"?

If I were to take a guess, the issue is probably directory corruption, which is OS based and has nothing to do with the RAID (meaning RAID Shield would not help). But not knowing the origin of the error message it's very hard to speculate. Again I suggest you contact tech support as they can quickly walk you through several tests and diagnose the issue.
