Looping pre-comp?
by Yoshiko on Jul 10, 2006 at 5:32:37 am

Hi,

I want to loop a pre-comp movie in the main comp. Is there anyway to do this? I know how to loop a movie clip (interpret footage -> main -> loop xxtimes), but when I select a pre-comp in the project window the option is not available.

Please help! thanks.

Yoshiko

Apply time remapping to the precomp layer, then apply the loop-cycle expression below to the time-remapping property. This will loop the comp's playback between the two time-remapping values.

loopOut(type="cycle")

Thank you Steve. I added the script and placed the comp in the main comp, but it still shows up as the original length of the movie. How can I stretch the comp in the main comp to repeat? or am I missing anything?

Thank you!

Yoshiko

All this should be done in the main comp:

Apply time remapping to the precomp layer.
Move the precomp layer's out point to where you want it. (sorry if I left that out)
Apply the expression to the precomp layer.

Hmmm.... ok I got to place it on the main time comp, and applied the expression. Now I can stretch the comp but it only plays once, meaning that longer stretch slower it gets.... I'm guessing that this has something to do with "Value" and "Velocity" of Time Remap but I just can't figure this out. Am I still missing something?

many thanks,

Yoshiko

You should leave the keyframes alone. Drag the out-point of the layer, not the keyframes. Check the help for "out-point".

To reset the time-remapping so you can start again, select and delete the words "time remap" .
