 | Expression/Script for adding text to output name?

Hello there!
This one might not even be possible, although i hope it is...
Here's the deal:
I got to render a big bunch of chyrons with a name and comment on them - four variants each, around 50 different names.
I already added an expression to the text layers of the different variants so that I would only have to change it in my "mother" comp.
The plan is:
Having 50x4 comps in my project won't really help with orientation. Also, I would have to alter the expression I added and that i added making it contraproductive. So I was planning to something like this:
Save the project with all the variants in the render queue, then render out name 1. close without saving and reopen, change the text and render name 2. .....
The only problem is, render 2 would of course override render 1 because the file names don't differ. More importantly, the file names should correspond to the name so that the operator who plays them won't kill me.
So:
Is there any script/expression that would dynamically alter the name of my output file in the render queue according to, say the content of a text layer?

An expression wouldn't be able to change the name of an output file, so I don't think an expression will help you.
You should certainly be able to automate all the rendering with a script. The best way to do it would depend on how you have things set up, but it sounds like you have a number of options. A script could put comps in the render queue, name the output files and even close the project without saving and reopen it, if that made the most sense. It's hard to give a specific answer though...

Thanks Dan, that's just what I expected :)
Although I already did it manually, I'd still be interested how a script would look like. Do you have any scripting ressources that might help?
Thanks in advance!
