cannot sent to fcp or export/import xml
by Maurik de Ridder on Jan 19, 2009 at 4:30:02 pm

Hi there...

serious issue here...

finished my first longer show for cc
is about 12 minutes and 380 shots

now i want to sent to fcp but xml gets stuck at 50 percent... moving very very slowly up

suddenly i realized that i read somewhere that you should always devide into episodes less then 20 minutes (which it is) but also (if i recall right under 200 shots)

Do you think this is what bugging color at the moment, and what can i do to split my edit into 2 sections
of each 190 shots, and somehow easily import the color corrections that i already made

don't want to save pcc and scc for everyshot and then split up the edit into two sequences
and then import the pcc and scc for everyshot (will take loads of time)

Please anyone (i hope) with a quick fix

greetings maurik

No quick fix if you want to split the project at this late date. But you can save the grades in a grade bin, rather than all the individual pcc and scc files. Its still drag or click... etc.

Well...

Was stressing a bit cause client was coming in 30-min
but did find a quick fix..
maybe bit unconventional but did do the job

i could render out all the shots, just could't sent to fcp
so i went to the renderfiles... imported all the g1, g2...... gn folders into fcp... then dragged all the folders from browser in the timeline... this placed all the shots at once in the timeline...

any cons against doing it this way?

thx anyways... always helpful here

[maurik de ridder] "any cons against doing it this way? "

Usually FCP does not sort the shots correctly. But other than that, no, there is no reason not to manually assemble the timeline back together

There is also the Final Gather option, but haven't had to use it lately.

[Joseph Owens] "There is also the Final Gather option, but haven't had to use it lately. "

Since FinalTouch was morphed into Color, FinalGather only works on image sequences, and not on QuickTime renders anymore. One of the features Apple removed in the transition…
