Hi guys
Ive got a project coming in thats come from After Effects using the Animation codec. We're doing the grade in Color, but am i right in thinking it wont like the codec. I was going to transcode it to ProRes HQ to be safe, but wanted to check that this is the best solution.

No. It won't work.
If you're ever in doubt about a codec, boot up an empty COLOR project, navigate to the media and try to import a clip... COLOR will let you know on the spot.

Ah, it won't let me edit/correct that last post.
Animation isn't supported as a throughput codec. You can bring it in, but "Original Format" won't be offered as a render output, so you will wind up in either ProRes or Uncompressed anyway... and minus any alpha channels that you might have had.

Slightly off topic. I've had issues rendering with Animation codec where the blacks crush. (Granted this was rendering via compressor, so could be a QT components issue).
Either way, take a look at the blacks on export and make sure there's nothing funny going on. You might end up going to ProRes for that reason instead.
