A little keyboard shortcut tip...

Given the relatively few keyboard shortcuts that are available in Color, it has annoyed me that they all require multiple keystrokes.
The shortcut I use most often is "Disable Grade" (control G)
I just discovered that you can map keyboard shortcuts using the OSX Prefs (System Preferences / Keyboard and Mouse / Keyboard Shortcuts). Click on the + symbol, choose "Color" as the application and type in "Disable Grade" and choose whatever keystroke you like. I chose "F13" - it is a large key, isolated from others and easy to find without looking at the keyboard. Now I only need to press one key to disable grade and check how my adjustments are affecting my image.
Probably almost everyone else already knows all this and I'm just an ignorant noobie.....but hopefully it improves someone's usability of the program a little like it has for me....

I use an MCS-3000/Spectrum control surface......and it drives me crazy that there isn't "Disable Grade" mapped to a button on it and as far as I can see there is no way to customize the buttons on it.

agreed. i have an eclipse and am frustrated with the limited stock color mapping apple implements (the shuttle knob doesn't even work!), but every time i look at the installer read me for jlcoopers new software i loose my nerve. at least the balls and rings work!

One of my best investments is using color is the Contour Shuttle PRO 2. In addition to having a shuttle, it has 15 programmable keys. They are also laid out in a fashion which works pretty well with Color.
Above the shuttle is a row of 4 and a row of 5. So you can program grades 1 through 4 on the top and whichever 5 rooms you use the most. However, the most useful aspect of the device is being able to enable and disable the grades in one button push.
I use my keyboard a lot less because of I have most of what I need mapped already. I imagine it would be a nice thing to have next to control panel.

I've got a Shuttle Pro 2 which I put on the shelf and almost sold since FCP is a hazardous program for the Shuttle Pro 2 as it's only emulating the keystrokes - scrubbing through the timeline using the ring and shuttle was a nightmare.

Just to let you know we've been using the Ethernet software from JL Cooper and once you get it working. (Very painful) you can map anything to any button. Made our grader a very happy camper.

the pain is what i'm afraid of. anyway our eclipse cx unit is in for warranty repairs. it had a weird intermittent funkyness from day one, but i could never nail it down. finally got to the point where we had to take it in (they're only a few miles from us so no biggie).
