Small tweaks in edit post Color Grade, Redo?
by Francois Driessen (pixeleyed) on Jul 8, 2008 at 5:32:16 pm

Workflow question:
E.G.: FCP send-to COLOR. Grade, discover a clip that was not prepped in FCP for color (Mirrored by Distorion params), but don't want to redo the grade. Is there a way to prep the stray clip back in FCP and synchronize the updated FCP project to Color proj so the edit update is reflected without having to create a new project or edit in Color itself?

thnx.

The fix is to re-export the fixed FCP sequence to a new COLOR project, then Import Color Corrections from your previous project.

Add the new clip to an upper video track, say V2. Export and XML from Final Cut Pro. In Color select Re-conform and point to the newly created XML file.

Good luck

It's not quite as smooth as you'd hope- re "round-tripping." My workflow is general to not bring out Color while the edit is still in flux.
