setup professional external monitor
by Maurik de Ridder (maurieketje) on Jul 7, 2008 at 10:25:14 am

Hello...

My work mainly consists of editing tv commercials/short movies/ commercial internet videos/

I'm trying to set up a professional monitoring setup

Just received the Blackmagic Multibridge Pro...
Now it's time to buy a decent external monitor...

My eye caught the detail that the Multibridge has a HDMI output for HD monitoring,
and the monitor of JVC (the DT-V24L1U) is HDMI compatible

The DT-V24L1U is the little brother of the JVC DT-V24L1D except doesn't have HDSDI support...
(and therefore alot cheaper)

Would this be a good setup for monitoring HD as well as SD
Or do you need monitoring through HDSDI instead of HDMI

Maybe someone can give me some feedback on this

greetings Maurik

HDSDI is more accurate and true IMHO than HDMI. We just got a couple of the little Panasonic pro LCDs with HDSDI and they are pretty excellent for cc'ing on a budget.

AFAIK I know the video signal coming off the head of a computer video card is not b'cast quality so connecting your GFX card to an external monitor via a DVI-to-HDMI adapter won't give you an accurate way to monitor.

I am looking for DVI output to JVCDT-V24L1U 24" Multi-Format LCD Monitor with 1080p Native Resolution. (about 2000 usd)
In fact i am looking to move to another colour grading solution like IRIDAS SPEEDGRADE XR to work with raw material.
If i decide to go SDI i need to build the solution around a PC Windows system. NVIDIA QUADRO doesn't support SDI in MAC.

I aprecciate any comment

thanks in advance
