hi,
i'm having bother when i send a sequence from fcp with multiclips in to color. problems are duplicated shots/ wrong shots and probably something else but it is so messy that i cannot tell.
what is the approved workflow? send as xml? send direct from final cut?

i'm sorry. what i mean is when you have multiple camera angles and you make a multiclip! you can then edit by switching between camera angles or even audio.

[ben pritchard]"i'm about to export sequence as qt - re import and get the razor blade out. any better ideas?"
In FCP, you can re-conform the sequence by match framing (hit the "f" key) back to the original master clips, then using a replace edit (F-11) to swap it back. It may take a while, but it's your best option if you want to work in Color.

[ben pritchard]"hmmm, so is there a way round this? " The only way around it is to prep all seqs and video tracks the way Color requires them before sending it to Color. It can be a LOT of work.
I have spent up to 5 days doing nothing but prep work before I was able to start coloring. You have to understand Color as if you were delivering your edited media to a high end post house (like mine - although we have super affordable rates) for the color correction.
Ultimately that is what Color is for.
It has nothing to do with FCP neither with the way FCP does things.

i appreciate that this isn't a simple process. but using multiple cameras is a situation where one needs a color correction tool more than on a single camera shoot. how have people managed to overcome this situation which cannot be unique.

Color is a great tool, but just like a Davinci is not appropriate for every project. FCP 3-way may be the way to go in your situation, maybe Colorista. You will have to determine what is bets for this project.
I love Color. I've been using it close to 4 years (since before it was called Color) but sometimes there's just no way to make it easy. Maybe in the future our beloved Apple will put enough resources to the pro apps to overcome some of these issues (for now the iPhone is the new cute and fragile baby).
