I am trying to figure the apple color interface coming from a compositing background.
The one significant thing that seems to be missing from an otherwise smooth application is the option to include a comparative blending node in the color fx room (i.e. Overlay, soft light, hard light etc.)
I guess it is possible to replicate overlay by cleverly inverting twice the info from multiply but this seems far to complicated. Surely graders need to give contrast -
my biggest frustration is in this color fx window in which quite straight forward operations are enclosed as mysterious packages - like bleach bypass can be applied as a one hit filter which is ridiculous - as there could be many controls within this one effect. this element of the package goes against the excellent curves controls - esp the curves in secondaries for hue/saturation
other than tricky workarounds is there a way to pull out contrast that I am missing? otherwise I must take modified footage back into fcp or AFX to simply overlay it to another modified clip.
