EX-1 works great in Color.
The Color's Release Notes say:"XDCAM EX media is imported by Final Cut Pro as XDCAM HD, which is supported by Color for import, but not supported as Original format or as an Export Codec".
So that: You can not import directly EX-1 to Color neither you can export EX-1 from Color. But you can send EX-1 to Color from FC.

..and always a big mess on top of the table.

Thus giving youurself a headache with Color not rendering the proper in/out points. Don't use unsupported codecs with Color. You have been warned. If you have space to spare go with uncopressed. If not use ProRes and stay happy.

The Ex-1 codec is supported in Color 1.02.
No problem in keeping the IN and OUT points.
No problem working in any application.
In FC when you export EX-1 (no recompress all the footage) the GOP structure is kept. Only the cuts GOPs are rebuilded. Fast and clean.
When needs render, go to Proress.
