Color crashes on inport
by jack bibbo (bibboedit) on May 14, 2008 at 11:27:45 pm

What is the latest version of Color. Color is running REAL slow. Cant import without crashing.
When bringing project over from FCP. It takes FOREVER for a :30 spot. I abandoned it after 15minutes.

I am new to Color but i am not trying anything other than opening a project and importing.

Were there any bugs with 1.01? That is what i am running on a:

Tiger 10.4.11
2 x 2.66 GHZ Dual GHZ Dual-Core Intel Xeon
5 GB 667 mHZ DDR RAM

Color 1.0.2 is the latest version.

What is the format of your timeline?

Do you have anything in that timeline that should not be there like speed changes, filters, graphics?

See my tutorial on prepping your FCP timeline for Color.

Where is your tutorial?

My timeline is strait forward. JUST CUTS.

I am trying to simulate and upcoming project where we cut in AVID and color correct in "COLOR"

So I exported a 10 bit Uncompressed file out of AVID.

Then Imported that into FCP. Add edits on the cut and then tried to import that into color.

This is where I got REAL SLOW response. When I took the project and recompressed it to PRO RES it flew. But that is not UNCOMPRESSED.

So what codec should I use.

Well after searching the past posts I think that my problem was the codec used. When I recompressed the footage to ProRes as a test it flew.

So is the APple codec 10 bit uncompressed not supported by Color?

[jack bibbo] "So is the APple codec 10 bit uncompressed not supported by Color?"

Yes it is supposed to be. Both SD and HD 10bit Uncompressed is supposed to be supported. I have not used it myself, I only go up to 8bit.

AVID codecs are NOT supported in Color. You said Apple 10bit, that's not the Apple 10 bit file. That's an Avid 10 bit file.

Yep that was it. Brought my Avid 10 bit into Compressor Turned it into FCP 10 bit

Dropped it into a timeline, Simulated add edits and went straight into Color.

Thanks Walter.

Been looking for the download for Color 1.02. Can not find.
