Different Colors
by Massimo Cerbera on May 13, 2008 at 8:15:43 pm

Hi guys, I have a problem, I export a clip from FCP to Color, after I have elaborated it, I send back it to FCP, but the clip from color are different, colors and tone are a little various. The same thing happens when from FCP exports filmato using QT Conversion... I do not obtain same colors... why?

What type of footage is your source? What are you rendering to? Are you just looking at on the computer display or a broadcast monitor?

Source is DVCPRO HD 720p25 from Panasonic HVX200, this footage I send directly in Color, I adjust color and start rendering, then I resend to FCP, but the footage's gamma is different...
I view all on a Apple Cinema Display 30''.

[Massimo Cerbera] "I view all on a Apple Cinema Display 30''."

What video card are you using? How are you feeding the Apple Cinema Display?

If you're simply looking at the Final Cut Pro Canvas output, then that is not an accurate display.

It's best to judge colors using a calibrated broadcast monitor and a video capture card.

In QuickTime Player Preferences, is Enable Final Cut Studio Color Compatibility selected?
