Hello, I am new to color, my two questions are...
#1. Do I have to bring my footage in from FCP straight to color all the time ? if i don't how do I just import a quick time file straight into color ?
#2.When I am done rendering in color, do I have to send it back to FCP ? can I just render it and then take it into compressor or motion ? if so how ?

You just import it in the Setup Room. Create a New Project and import it. But be warned, Color will stall for up to 5 minutes when you start navigating out to the your media volume. No clue why, it was a newly added "feature" recently.

You just go get the Rendered file and take it into Compressor or Motion. Renders > Project Name > Folder.

Most likely because of quicktimes exported as "by reference" in this directory. If Color comes to a directory with by-ref files it tries to locate all the original media files, which usually takes quite a time for Color.

Nope, this happens the moment I try to move "up" in the Volume Directories. Color Stalls. Then when it's done stalling, I move up another directory, stalls again. Usually stalls three or four times by the time I get to the actual Capture Scratch Folder I'm trying to get to.
It's not reference files, it's Color.
