As Apple Color's 1.5 support for the Eclipse seems to be broken, it works after a fashion, but not really very well, I'm trying to use the Ethernet Software and Plugin supplied by JL Cooper...

Is there anyone out there who has successfully used this setup? I can connect to the the Ethernet software with minimal issues, but getting Color to talk with their plugin is a nightmare. It installs it into the root 'Library>Application Support>Color>Plugins' folder, which is not where they say it should go, and therefore does not work, although does recognize the plugin's existence, so I change the location to 'Users>My Account>Library>Application Support>Color>Plugins' and it works once, until I shut down and open up Color...then it no longer works...although again, recognizes it's there..

Anyone else having a similar experience?

I'm on OS X 10.6.2 and have tried what must be 15 or more combinations, but the only fix is to use their uninstaller and re-install all if it again, but was does worry me, is that the preferences seem to be remembered, despite not finding anything JL Cooper related after the uninstall...

Ta very much

J

been using the eclipse for a couple years. plugin has always worked great - 10.5. & 10.6
i'm currently on the latest version of everything with no trouble.
i will say i was NEVER able to get the ethernet software to work until very recently when their tech support realized there was some weird MIDI file buried deep in my system after they had me send them some kind of report from terminal.
have you called them?

Thanks, I;ll check that out, I do have an issue with the coreMIDI services at the moment due to a ProTools issue which I need to sort out, perhaps that will fix things..

An update, I've pretty much tried everything I can think of now, I've removed all midi type conflicts I could find, but on retrospect, I'm not sure this is the issue, as I've always been able to connect to the Ethernet software fine, it's just Color does not see the Eclipse Plugin.. I've tried the default location where the plugin is installed, which has never worked, and relocated it to the User section (where the manual says it should be), that worked once, but has never worked since...weird..

Paul, where's the location of the EclipseColor Plugin on your system?

Waiting for a response from JL Cooper..

i have jlcooper folder in lib>application support
i have plist in users>user>preferences
this is my laptop as i am on vacation right now, but i believe it works fine on this as well
i do remember you have to get the ports right on the eclipse panel itself first - see instructions for actual panel (not enet app)

Great, I'll check that, weird thing is, it works once, but then not again, I wonder if it's a system issue...registry or something, not that I know anything about such things..

well i had been going back and forth with figuring this out and stupidly never tried it on another computer.
tech support suggested i try installing the software on my laptop and boom - 1st try all was working, so there was something funky on the macpro.
