FCP to Color to FCP - which media is used in render queue
by Rick Siegel on Oct 15, 2009 at 12:27:21 am

To The Fine Folks That Know,

I have a trailer and feature film project that I'm color correcting in COLOR. I received a cut of the film's trailer that is comprised of footage from the camera original and was in an H-264 codec. I opened the trailer in FCP, sent it to Color and put my color corrections on this version. I then put it in the render queue and when finished sent it back to FCP. The question did the the render refer to the H-264 I originally sent to color or refer to the camera original that's located in the media.

Thanks,

Rick Siegel

Kinda depends on the camera- typically Color references the media that is in your sequence as sent to Color. The best way to guarantee this going the way you expect is use original media in your edit.
