I know lock yer edits before you correct, but...
by scott tupper on Sep 24, 2009 at 8:34:07 pm

well the client wants a few changes now. I removed the cut-away shot but now I need to extend my original clip another 5 seconds. Is there anyway to avoid having to send a whole new sequence to Color just to correct one clip?

Another way of asking this question would be:

Does Reconform actually work now in Color 1.5, or is it still basically a big red "CRASH" button?

Reconform definitely works in 1.5. I used it 2 or 3 times last week.

yeah, save the grade from the original clip, send just the new clip to color and apply the correction.
then fix the sequence in fcp.
or if the new sequence is the same number of clips, you can send the entire new sequence to color, import the corrections of the old sequence, render the whole thing out and send to fcp.

Thanks Paul, I went ahead and sent the entire sequence back to color and applied the original grade. Your suggestion to send just the clip didn't work, only the sequence was an option. Does 1.5 allow individual clips to be sent from FCP?

Why dont you just re-render that shot with an additional 5 seconds of handle?

Why not just render that shot from your original COLOR proj but with a 5 second handle?

Ah, nice of me to repeat what you already suggested! :-)

Go back into Color.

Set your Handles to 6 seconds.

Select that one clip and re-render it.

This will add 6 seconds to the head and tail of your shot.

Quit Color and go to FCP. You now have the same shot with 6 seconds of handles on either end.

[scott tupper] "well the client wants a few changes now"

Two words: "Hourly Rates"

It makes you richer, it helps the client in making timely decisions.
