2 monitors and preview?

We were using a single monitor from the computer and a broadcast monitor for playback preview. We had 2 gfx cards in and so we added a second computer monitor for a dual monitor setup but our preview monitor no longer works in Color. It still gets a signal and works fine in fcp. Any clues?
We have 2 nvidia geforce gt 120 cards and a Kona 3 card...

Kinda depends how the monitors are connected- i.e. HDMI, DVI, etc. It is indeed possible to run two computer monitors with a 3rd broadcast monitor with Color, in fact that's the preferred way. But you should be ok with the Kona and a single graphics card, provided it's got the right outputs for 2 monitors.

Color does not support dual graphics cards. You must run both computer monitors from the same graphics card in order for Color to work properly. The best card for Color is currently the ATI Radeon HD 4870.

Dang. That's the issue - I have 2 separate gfx cards plus a kona - I do have another system with 1 card and 2 outs so maybe I'll switch over to that after this project.
that's a pretty annoying Color issue wouldn't you say?

Honestly I don't see it impacting very many people. The only reason to use two graphics cards is if you need more than 2 computer monitors, since most good graphics cards already have dual monitor outputs.

Yep, or a rendering boost if Studio ever support two graphics cards in the future. But right now, there's zero impact for us running one graphics card, which is what we've done pretty much since we opened in 2001.

Yeah we have other seems where we can switch to with one GFX card, it just seems like a silly thing for Color not to run like this but, say FCP to be able to. Anyway, thanks for the help!

To my knowledge FCP does not support 2 graphics cards yet either. Might have changed with FCP 7 but I'm not aware of it.
