Rendering black clips
by Kasper Sørensen on Sep 7, 2009 at 11:59:19 pm

Hi.

When i render out material from color, some of the clips appear as black.
The clips does not really have anything in common, and are on some reels, while other reels renders just fine.
I know what sometimes fixes the problem, but i would really like to know what causes the problem.
The movie is shot on RED, and are online as DPX's.
The solutions for the problem, that sometimes works, is to online only the one clip, that are causing the problems, making a new Color project, and then take the "clip info folder" (The folder inside "show package content" -> "shots") from the new color project, and then copy it in to the original Color project, and replace the original DPX's with the new ones.
I'm using Rubber Monkey Extract to online the material and create the EDL for Color.
I have also tryed just to render the DPX's directly from RED ALERT, and replace it with the original DPX's, with no luck so far.
Currently my alternative solution, is to create a new color project, with the missing clips, apply the gradings, and render it. There are just one big disadvantage. I have to fit those clips in the gathered rendered footage from the original project.
I hope some of you can tell me more about my problem

Kind regards,
Kasper Sørensen
