Renders quitting
by David Battistella on Sep 3, 2009 at 3:41:22 am

Dudes,

I am having this terrible problems with renders getting cancelled or quitting. Then Color accidentally quits when I try to save the project file.

Any help or thoughts on this would be welcome.

I have:
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT:

Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2600
Type: Display
Bus: PCIe
Slot: Slot-1

Same card we have in one of our suites and it used to be my primary machine in this suite.

All I can think of are the usual suspects, speed changes, mixed format, still image.... Assuming you're running Color 1.0.4.

Ensure nothing else is running in the background.

Make sure your Screen Saver is disabled.

All of the material is RED. No mixed formats.

It's version 1.5 of Color though, not 1.04 (which was much more stable).

PS have not gone to SNOW LEOPARD

No clue then unless one of the files is somehow corrupted, we did a 4+ hour RED timeline a few weeks ago with Color 1.5, no issues.

From the original r3d media?

I've been using the clipfinder process.

XML out of FCP
Run conform on FCP xml in Clipfinder
open the XML in color and grade of the original R3D media

Can get a clean render from prores, they are completely garbled pink and green media.

No idea why. even installed snow leopard and teh problem persists.

I am zeroing in on this and I now believe it has everything to do with using the F proxie. As I drop it down to H or M I have not more garbled problems.

It's an easy fix. Even If I use the M proxie then Color is still reading teh FULL r3D information. I can just set my output size to what I want and the renders look great. No more pink and green BS in teh thumbnails either.
