Snow Leopard with Color 1.5 So far so good
by Timothy Payton on Aug 30, 2009 at 3:46:56 am

I did a test upgrade on my MacBook Pro (2.2 ghz) with a whole bunch of software on it. FCS3, CS4, AE CS4, etc.

Everything is working beautifully! I did some test color grading on some 30 second spots shot in HDV 1080. Everything worked in Color and FCP as expected.

This feels like a very tuned OS. Background processing doesn't feel like it is hogging the processor. The memory usage seems much improved. I opened a dozen big apps, Photoshop, Modo, AE, FCP, Motion, Color, Soundtrack, Mocah, VMWare Fusion and InDesign and switched between them without any noticeable delay (in Leopard there was a noticeable delay when switching these many open big apps due to caching to disk.) Also quitting apps is instantaneous!

So go ahead and jump on a test machine, so far the water is fine.

Also did upgrade

Final cut 7 wouldn't open at first, I trashed the preferences and it was fine, logic froze the first time but second time opened fine, color worked first time, my MXO needed to update to latest version.

I Agree, the overall performance feels quicker, more instant.

My only problem is that a lot of ExpressPort cards that use the Sil 3132 driver are no longer supported.. at least for now..

So.. I wont be able to use my beloved eSATA card. About 85% of eSATA cards use this driver.

Another user posted this link for the SI 3132 driver, and it has so far worked for me for my PCI-E eSata card on my 08 Mac Pro
