Yes there is. It may not be obvious, but it is simple.
Find a font style in the Titler Styles that you like, right click on it and choose "Set Style as Default".
Now, if none of them make you happy, you can make a title that you really like, using all of the font names, font size, fills, shadows, etc. Select the text and in the menu twirldown in the Titler Styles panel, you can "Add Style". Then as before, make it the default.
