Eran says in the tutorial that it is recommended to add glow to the text. He neglected to say or show that this is not quite straightforward. Adding a glow or blur effect (I've tried two) make the layer lose its depth which means although it is placed around the actor/dancer it always appears as if its in front or behind him.
The solution is to add another tornado text layer and add a blur modifier to it rather than an effect and then use Screen mode to crate the actual glow.

Yep, You're right.
This is a known limitations of 3D Text, Adobe aware of this and might address it in the future (I hope that will happen fast ;-) You are right, and I'm sorry for not mentioning it.
Anyway, Amit, your workaround is a good solution.
Another idea to make those fireflies glow (or text for that matter), is convert your project to 32bit (Alt + click in the project panel where is says 8bpc). Then choose a color that is more than 1 for example R = 1, G=1.5, B=1.2, then enable motion blur and let AE do the rest

32 bit is oh so slow. But at least it has a lot of effects working with it unlike Photoshop.
But we might see if it is settled in probably the next few month as Adobe releases the betas for CS4.
