Lightwriting Text??

I've just finished the light writing tutorial and was really impressed but now i'd like to take that technique and apply it to text. I messed around in AE for a while and couldnt find a solution to do so. Could someone help me out here? Thanks

I dont know it really, but if the light writing is based on Maks: my idea
Auto trace the text layer
select you textlayer and go to Layer>Auto Trace
then select work area and make sure alpha channel is selected. there are other options but i think for a clean text they arent necessary. Then click ok and after effects applies all the computed mask to a new solid.

You can also copy and paste from Illustrator if you have it.
Also, and this is a serious pain, and hard to explain in text, but it is possible to copy and paste the shape layers paths into other masks in AE. It can get pretty cumbersome, so if you have illustrator, convert your text to outlines and copy them into AE.
