On Location minimum memory requirement

Can anyone tell me what the minimum memory requirement is to run the CS4 version of OL? Someone told me that it is 2G and that not having enough memory could be my problem. Unfortunately, my laptop maxes out at 2G. Before I swap the memory out I'd like to know if that could really be my problem with the vectorscope and levels disappearing when a camera is detected - along with the green and negative monitor and crashing. I just reloaded the entire system from windows XP up and there's no change in the symptoms. OL CS3 still works fine. Is anyone running the CS4 version with less than 2G (around 1.2G) of RAM successfully? That would answer my question. If yes, the HP goes in the junk pile. This is all Tim Kolb's fault anyway. I was watching his Class Online video and the first module is OL. I hadn't loaded it and was content with CS3 until I saw his tutorial. Now that I've seen it, I want it... ;-)

I have problem with 4GB of RAM. I just posted to chain concerning delay but my configuration might be of interest to you.
I'm experiencing over a minute delay
I'm setting up Onlocation for the first time. I have a Sony EX1 with the latest firmware. The laptop is a Sony VAIO VGNAR825E dual core 2.0 GHz. The graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GT. Vista 32 Bit. 4 GB RAM, 1080i HDV settings.
With this type of delay the program is unusable. If you make a small adjustment and you need to wait 80 seconds to see what the results are it could take a long time to set up a shot.

Nicholas: What mode do you have the EX1 in. I'm looking at SP 1080/60i on my Dell 390 (4 CPU, 3.6 GHz) with not more than a second of latency.
To answer Jack's question directly, the official minimum RAM for OnLocation CS4 is 2GB, but you should actually get good performance with 1GB--even as low as 500MB for DV. But for those who didn't happen upon another thread that Jack started, the actual cause of his problems with OnLocation was a graphics card that's below spec (PixelShader 2.0)

Problem solved by calling adobe tech support at 800 642-3623.
Was it a Microsoft or Adobe update to blame? Possibly loading the Sony EX1 programs? Whatever hosed my system it wasn't easy to fix.
First Failed attempt:
I followed an knowledgebase article that said uninstalling and reinstalling the CS4 Creative Suite would solve the issue. It only funked up my system more hen it Failed to uninstall. Reinstalling Failed. Adobe Knowledgebase Did Not have another solution I could find.
Second Failed attempt
Calling Adobe tech support the first time I was given prcedures for using the Microsoft Clenup tool and Adobe CS4 cleanup tool and deleting temp files. This did not solve the problem.
Third successful attempt (I'm keeping my fingers crossed)
The second call to Adobe Tech support worked and hopefully solved the problem. I'll test and post results later. I suggest talking directly to Adobe support and have them take you through a long convoluted process that requires using the CS3 "Clean Script" tool (search Adobe Support to find) run twice at level 2 and twice at Level 4 (undocumented) then PREFETCH, MSCONFIG, and Creating a new Administrator account to load CS4 again.
Results are after a 5 hour battle, OnLocation is functioning with a second or two delay.
Now I will need to download the 779MB Adobe CS4 update. The Internet's slow today so by tomorrow I might have the tests completed.

Use CS3 ultra, CS4 is getting nothing but complaints in many forums. CS3's version is Serious Magic,s Ultra 2 version with an Adobe splash at the beginning I believe. Just like Serious Magic's OnLocation from CS3. I wish Serious Magic never sold out to Adobe. Danny
