Corrupted QT files out of OL?
by Andrew Sweeney on Mar 5, 2008 at 4:32:27 pm

The setup: I spent three days in Vegas recently, shooting interviews for a client. I streamed Firewire into OnLocation from an HVX200 at 720p30. The lion's share of the files are perfectly fine, playback is good and audio is peachy.

However...

I've got five or six files (~2.5Gb each) that simply refuse to open. When I attempt to bring them in to Premiere Pro, I get the dreaded "Importer had a generic error" message, and attempting to play them with QuickTime player results in an "Error -39, the end-of-file was reached." The most frustrating thing to me is that, if I drag the ejected clip into OnLocation by dragging from explorer, I can still see a good bit of the clip, as well as the audio. I don't care if I can't save the whole clip or not, but is there anything at all I can do to salvage what I can from these clips?

Many thanks
